Happy Friday friends! Once again my week has been crazy & I’m really thankful to have a few days to decompress from the stress. Especially since I’m headed to LA (!!!) next week!! Can you tell I’m just a little bit excited? ha!
Before we get to all that though, there is something that has been on my mind a lot lately, and that is the power of one. The power of one person to make a difference. The power of one smile to turn around a day. The power of one apology to heal old wounds.
So many times nowadays, we get stuck in our own bubble (I’m looking at you Instagram!) and we don’t take the time to look around and see what people really need. I get asked a lot how I stay happy & joyful, and I think one thing that makes a huge difference is that I try to really engage with those around me. I told this story on IG the other night, but when I was checking out at Publix Thursday the bagboy asked if I had spent the day at the beach b/c I was dressed in such bright colors. I laughed and told him no, I just like them, and we chatted for a few minutes and then as I was leaving he told me to “have a bright night!” – which totally made my day! Y’all it would have been so easy to be scrolling IG, texting, checking emails or any number of other things… but it only took 1 minute to look up, make a connection, and leave a little bit happier!
I can’t tell you the number of times I’m walking down the hall at work & someone is coming towards me with a “cranky” expression; but I always take 1 second to smile and say “hi” and almost always I break the cranky expression & a smile emerges in return! It takes no time at all to spread cheer, happiness, and a little bit of love!
I guess what I’ve been thinking, is maybe that’s what our world needs more of… that “one minute kindness.” So can I encourage you to pass on some smiles today, BE the sunshine in your office or town, and take that 1 second, 1 minute, to make a difference- where ever you may be!
