Y’all I’m so happy to be back in action today after an action-packed week of travel last week. While I absolutely love being a girl on the go, I have to admit that by Friday all I wanted was to curl up in my own bed and snuggle Buddy Bear! (PS- today is his 10th birthday!!)
I am so thankful that we have today off of work to celebrate MLK day and am really looking forward to 24 hours of being productive and catching up on “life.” Since I have plans to take full advantage of today, it got me thinking that as we head into a new year we could all use some tips on making the most of our “free time”- I mean, we get so little of it!
ONE: Make a to-do list
This might sound like an elementary first step, but if you want to be productive- make a list! If I let all my ideas roll around in my head, then 1/2 of them never get completed. But when I stop and make a list, then I can see clearly how to prioritize my time for the day. Also, I get an intense feeling of satisfaction when I cross things off said list- anyone else?? 🙂
TWO: Schedule Your Day
Now that you’ve made your list you can see what & how much you need to accomplish. Next, I usually sit down and section out my day into time-blocks based on how long I think it’s going to take me to finish certain tasks. I also try to make sure I’m not hopping from one side of the house to the other – and that I’m doing tasks in an order that makes sense.
THREE: Take Breaks
Chances are, if you are anything like me you use days off of work to be super productive; but that does mean that you don’t get to use said days to just “relax” (I hardly know what that word means anymore!) So I try to build in a few “breaks” to just sit for a moment and read a few texts, scroll IG, let Buddy out, etc. These few minutes of a mental break then reinvigorate me to tackle the next thing on my list!
FOUR: Pour a Glass of Wine! 😉
I mean, is there any better way to unwind & enjoy your free time?! Pat yourself on the back for being so productive- now it’s time to relax!
I hope some of these tips are helpful as you look towards a new year. I just know we’re going to make this one SO good!
