Sunday Scripture vol. 7 : HAPPY EASTER!

What joyful news we have today! What hope we have in Christ on Easter!

Easter Scripture Verse Matthew 28

What a special, wonderful, beautiful day it is friends- it’s Easter! Today is a day for celebrating the wonderful hope that we have in Jesus Christ and to thank God for sacrificing His son for our sins.

Y’all sometimes when I write it out, or think/pray about what God did for us through Jesus I try and break it down for myself so that my measly little mind can try to comprehend the wonder and the depth of love for us that went into the act of sacrifice.

So I stop and think about how many times a week (ok really a day!) that I sin. How many ways are we disobedient to God and disregard his will for us? And yet, he still loves us. And he loves us with a depth and breadth that I can’t even begin to wrap my mind around. And so he looked down us- broken and sinful people- and he loved us so much that he knew he would have to send the ultimate sacrifice in order to give us a way into Heaven. (Reading through the Old Testament has really helped me to understand how major the sacrifices were that you had to do in order to atone for your sins. It’s given me so much context into this!)

And so he sent his son. Not a statue, or a goat, or cattle. He sent his SON. And after his son had lived a faithful, blameless, perfect life that honored his father in every way his father turned around and asked him to sacrifice his life for the very people who couldn’t get it together enough to live without sinning.

And Jesus did it- for you! For me! For us!

He was crucified on a cross, and buried in a tomb. Everyone thought hope was lost. But three days later they found out…

And in his resurrection every single one of us has the hope of heaven. The hope of eternity! Jesus gave us, sinners, the ultimate hope! So today we celebrate!

And I don’t know about you, but I am so very thankful for this gift. I pray you have the most wonderful Easter!

This is such a perfect Easter message. My son asked me the other day why God didn’t interfere in man’s affairs and stop war and so on. I tried to explain the Easter message but I probably got it all wrong – I tried to explain that God had interfered and tried to guide us directly, and via the prophets and so on and how man didn’t listen all the time and his last ditch attempt was the most difficult thing he ever could have done, and how hard it would be to give up your child – how I couldn’t do that. I think he understood – I hope so, as sometimes it takes saying it out loud to realise the significance of it all. J x P.S. It is nice to actually talk about religion as in this country it seems to have been marginalised, it is sad. Your blog and the messages of so many bloggers are a wonderful thing 🙂
