When I first made the resolution to read through the Bible in a year, I was really dreading having to trudge through the Old Testament (just being honest!). But, I am really thankful that I have stuck with it because I am learning SO much through the Old Testament and the Lord is showing me so much through the pages of history and faithfulness in the books and chapters.
I am to the point in the bible when the Israelites journey of 40 years is coming to an end and Moses has finally brought them to the land promised by God many years ago. And even after seeing God’s goodness and faithfulness at work for FORTY years, the people still doubt & are still afraid. On top of it, Moses is passing on leadership to Joshua as the Lord has told him to. So as Moses is handing the reins over to Joshua he tells him the above verse- “Do not be afraid…He will neither fail you nor abandon you.” And if anyone knew the truth about this it would be Moses!
As I read this verse, all I could think about is how true it still rings today. God shows us his goodness, his faithfulness, his glory every single day – in all facets of our lives – and still we are afraid to trust him. Afraid to let him lead us to a place so full of glory that we wouldn’t know what to do! So today he still calls us to not be afraid, and to trust that he will go ahead of us, never failing or abandoning us. What encouragement!
I pray that as you head into your week you feel a sense of power knowing that God is walking before you and preparing this very path for you to conquer. He is with you!
