4 Ways to Beat the “Blahs”

I’m not sure what it was about the past few weeks, but I’ve been dealing with an overwhelming case of the “blahs.” You know what they are right?! When you just feel kind of “there” and struggle with motivation, feeling 100% yourself, etc. For someone who is always going at turbo charge speed & stamina, it is hard to deal with! So I started digging in to try and determine what I could do to beat these blahs and get back to feeling great again! Keep reading for a few of my tips if you are struggling with this too.

ONE: Check your Prayer Life

Without a doubt, whenever I feel like things are out of whack in my life- it starts with my prayer life (or lack thereof). I’ve had so much on my plate the last few weeks and when I stopped and took a look at my prayer life I realized it had really taken a backseat in my priority list. I normally pray every morning while I walk the dog (we do a mile & it’s the perfect time to chat with Him) but I’ve been spending my walks thinking about my to-list and what’s next on my plate. I’ve got to push the to-do’s aside and pour it all out to him- this is the foundation for EVERYTHING!

TWO: Adjust Your Eating Habits

Similarly to my prayer life, my eating habits suffer the busier I get. Hello eating out, glasses of wine, and just all-around unhealthy choices! So when it comes to beating the blahs, another important factory in saying “goodbye” to them is getting my eating in line. Simply taking time to meal prep can make such a difference in setting the tone for a productive (& healthy) week!

THREE: Prioritize Exercise

No surprise, my work-out life has been pretty inconsistent the past few weeks which has led to feeling not so good about myself. When I’m thriving, working out is always an important factor in that feeling, so I know that I also have to schedule consistent workouts in my week (and stick to them)! For me, I’ve been having meetings every night of the week, so I’m working on making the switch to morning workouts and balancing my nighttime schedule to allow for more workouts. Nothing like breaking a sweat to get rid of stress!

FOUR: Break Out of Your Routine

This sounds counter-productive to getting yourself on a workout, prayer schedule… but nothing gets me motivated and re-energized than doing something different! Whether it’s doing a new workout, trying a new restaurant, meeting a new friend, or even writing a different type of blog post- trying something new is the BEST way to gain a fresh perspective and new motivation for life.

It is definitely a snowball effect when you feel one part of your life slides (like your anchor area – prayer time). I am feeling very disorganised at the moment and it does have a knock on effect. I am sure after the long week-end you will feel re-charging and raring to go (sometimes we just need some down time to re-boot!). Keep smiling! BIG HUGS – Joanne x
