Thirty-One! (And Five Things I Learned at 30)

It’s my birthday!! Sharing 5 Lessons I learned at 30 and how I’m celebrating 31!

Happy Monday friends! I’m headed into this week with SO much cheer because yesterday I celebrated my 31st birthday!! It’s hard for me to believe I’m officially in my 30s- like really in them now- and I couldn’t have loved my first year in them more! Everyone has told me that their 30’s were their favorite decade- and it’s already shaping up to be so very true. Once you fit 30, it’s like you really know yourself, who you are, what you want… and that’s powerful stuff friends! I thought it would be fun today to share 5 things I’ve learned in my 30’s (there’s been so many lessons but I whittled them down to my top five!) 🙂

ONE: Don’t be afraid to expand your tribe.

If y’all have been around here awhile then you know that 100% my girlfriends mean the world to me! I’ve been crazy lucky to be surrounded by so many wonderful women who lift me up & inspire me every day. And in the last year, my tribe has grown! I’ve made some wonderful new friends who have filled up my life with JOY! From Bachelor Monday nights, so happy hours, these ladies have turned my sweet beach town into  a hometown for me and I’m so thankful! So lesson one is this: don’t be afraid to expand your tribe! Take a chance on making new friends, open yourself up to new people- your life will be richer for it.

TWO: It’s never too late to get your finances in order.

I’ve shared bits & pieces here and there about beginning my journey with Financial Peace University. I’m working on a big post about my “why” and what I’ve learned through the program, but what it’s shown me is that it’s never too late to get your finances in order! I do so wish I had started the journey to financial freedom earlier, but I am glad I am on the road now!

THREE: Say YES to big adventures!

I have a case of wanderlust like nobody’s business, and traveling has brought me some of my biggest joys in the past year. Getting out of your comfort zone, trying something new, challenging yourself- these are all wonderful results of saying “yes” to adventure and traveling! I have my first international trip coming up this year and I couldn’t be more excited- and so ready for learning new things 🙂 So my advices- always say “YES” to adventure!

FOUR: Find your faith and dig deep in it.

Y’all know how much I love the Lord, but in the past year I feel like I’ve really hit my “groove” with my faith. It was a goal of mine to read through the Bible in a year (which I did last year) and it set the tone for me to dig deep, learn more about the Lord and his love for me, and really believe in his great plan for my life. I’ve been through hills &  valleys at 30, but each pit and peak was made so much richer (& more bearable) because I could lean on the Lord and my faith to get through it. (Sidenote: If you ever want to chat about this let me know! I’d love to encourage you!)

FIVE: The world needs your special brand of YOU!

I think it’s no secret that each and every one of us is SO different from each other. In this day of social media it’s far to easy to get caught up in trying to be just like each other- but that doesn’t do anyone any good. We were each created so uniquely, and I’ve learned that the world (& people) need MY unique brand of me 🙂 And I need each of my friend’s unique personalities too! We don’t grow & learn by all being the same- we need each other’s differences to blossom. So don’t try to be like your favorite IG account- embrace the wonderful traits that make YOU unique and give that to the world! Trust me, we need it! 🙂

I’m so excited to see what 31 has to offer and can’t wait to see what lessons this year will bring. What have you learned in the last year? Love y’all BIG!

    HAPPY, HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

I love this dress on you – pink is your color and I need to get to that hotel in the background ASAP.

I love all your lessons, but especially love the one about saying yes to new adventures – I find I get the most out of life when I push my comfort zone, even if it’s scary at the onset.
