Hey y’all and happy Wednesday! This short week due to the holiday is totally throwing me off but we’re back in the game today, right?!
Taking a step back from the blog & instagram to focus on “real life” has definitely offered me a bit of perspective lately. I have been so guilty of scrolling Instagram and envying others who had what looks like a perfect life. What’s even worse? I’ve been guilty of crafting a feed that gave off some form of “perfection” without sharing the gritty, real moments that happen all the time behind the scenes. The hardest thing of all? I judged my own life based off of those pesky little squares. Yep- that crazy little voice in my own head was judging my worth off of tiny square pictures on Instagram!
But, in the past few months, as I focused on friends, family, faith, and one special guy (:)) I’ve learned a very important lesson: you are not your Instagram feed! Let me say it again for the people in the back: you are not your Instagram feed! Sure, the pictures you post, the outfits, the captions, the memories, the places- they are a part of you. They tell a portion and a side of your story… but they don’t tell the whole story. Our big, beautiful, bold, messy, imperfect, amazing life can’t be squished down inside four straight lines and cannot be contained on an app. There are so many amazing moments happening every day- big ones and small ones- and sharing every second would be impossible. So I’m learning to embrace those moments, sharing what & when I can, but also treasuring some privately- and making a life that I am so proud of!
Whew! Didn’t mean to get quite so deep today but I had so much on my heart around this topic and couldn’t wait to share with y’all! As always, I love learning from you and hearing what you think. Feel free to share your thoughts in the comments below!
