My New Tattoo! (And What it Means)

Happy Friday! Today’s post is a fun one to wrap up the week, and something I’ve gotten SO many questions about since I got back from Amsterdam and shared that while I was there… I got my new tattoo! If you’ve been around here awhile then you might remember that I have 1 tiny one on my hip already, but I have really wanted another one for quite some time and I knew that this one would be my last- so I really needed to think about what it would be!

Well, last fall I heard a song that quickly became my anthem for the waiting period I had been through and was currently in. It’s called “Hills and Valleys” and is such a powerful song and powerful reminder that God is not just out God on the “hills” of life, he is right there with us in the valleys as well. In fact he is walking right next to us and helping us through it! And perhaps just as hard to remember, when we reach a hill in our life- God is there too! Very often we start to take credit for those moments- and forget that God has been walking right beside us through every season in life.

Every time I sung along to this song I was deeply impacted and it was such a great reminder to me that God is good though my hills & valleys. So I started thinking of how a tattoo could represent this – and came up with the idea of a simple hill & valley (basically two open triangles!) that would remind me each time I saw it of the important truth I’ve learned over the past few years. I actually wanted to get this done on my 31st birthday in March- but my sweet dinner celebrations went too long and the shops were closed by the time we wrapped up. So I waited patiently for the perfect time… and when I booked my trip to Amsterdam I decided it was the perfect souvenir to come home with! ๐Ÿ™‚

I absolutely LOVE my new tattoo and what it represents in my life. Each time I look down it’s such an important reminder for me and I am so excited that I did it! (even though it did hurt! ha) Do y’all have any tattoos? What do they mean?? I love hearing about what inspires other people!

I love what your tattoo represents and that you waited until your trip to bring it home as a souvenir! I’ve always wanted to get one but have such a low pain tolerance have always chickened out!

I love that you put you out there! Such a wonderful meaning behind it and one of my favorite songs over the last year. I have tattoos…everything so far are flowers and insects (butterfly that helps me remember my friend Nick who died in 7th grade from cancer; ladybugs which represents my youth pastor who died early). Iโ€™m wanting to get more…the next one will more than likely be on my wrist. It will be my first tattoo I canโ€™t cover. Just trying to figure out what I want.

Isn’t it the most amazing and encouraging song? It get me every time I hear it!

I wanted a tattoo on my wrist so much, and couldn’t figure it out until one day it clicked! I’m glad I waited until it was something perfect ๐Ÿ™‚ can’t wait to hear what you decide on!
