Travel Diary: Austria (Day 1 & 2)

Sharing the first part of my European adventure in Austria!

Well y’all, it’s about time I start sharing my trip of the summer to Amsterdam and Austria! I’ve definitely realized after traveling that I am NOT a travel blogger (ha!) but this was definitely a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and since Girl Meets Bow has become my diary of sorts I didn’t want to miss the opportunity to record these special memories!

But first, a little context… what the heck was a doing in Europe?! πŸ™‚ I met my friend Katie a few years ago when we were both jewelry buyers on the same team at HSN. Katie moved to Houston where she met the love of her life (who happened to be from Austria!). Then, he got an amazing job in Amsterdam (um, hello amazing!) so they moved overseas! This summer, they got married in Altusse, Austria and it was the perfect opportunity to renew my passport and hop on a plane across the pond! One of my besties, Abby, was able to go with me, so we made a girl’s trip out of this overseas adventure!

I think the easiest way to share our trip is through pictures, so grab your coffee and snuggle in… there’s a TON to share!

Graphic Tee (similar & under $20) || Joggers

We started our journey from Tampa to Philly to Amsterdam to Austria (whew!) so of course I needed a comfy and cute travel look! This graphic tee got lots of love as I traveled so I’m linking a similar style + these joggers were the best for over 24 hours of planes, trains, and automobiles!

DAY 1:

So so so excited to be in AUSTRIA! It was many hours of travel, but I wouldn’t have missed this opportunity for the world. If you have the chance to travel… DO IT! It’s something you will never regret- especially with great friends πŸ™‚

A few snapshots from our walk to dinner… everything was just so cute and charming- I couldn’t believe this was a real place that people lived!

I think the food of Austria is Schnitzel- because they served it everywhere! ha. But it was the best schnitzel I’ve ever had so this girl isn’t complaining!

I mean, is this view not everything you’ve ever dreamed of? Austria might just be the most beautiful place I’ve ever been!

I literally wanted to stop for a photo at every turn… it was gorgeous everywhere!

Wine with a view? You know I am all about that life! πŸ™‚ #VacationMode

DAY 2:

They love their coffee in Austria, but it’s more like espresso! I loved the perk of caffeine and coffee with this view? I’ll take it!

We then headed to one of the local mountains to hike up to an ice cave! It was a lot more intense than I thought it would be (those elevations are no joke!) but the views from the top were so worth it!

We made it to the top! Whew!

This is what years of water/ice look like. The ice caves are pretty famous and it was so cool to be able to walk through and see all that history.

After all that hiking you know your girl needed some wine! Luckily in Europe it’s pretty acceptable with every meal πŸ˜‰

Snapped a picture with the bride and then one of the bride & groom! I love how laid back fun they were the whole weekend!

After resting & getting cleaned up from our hike, we grabbed a ferry boat over to our dinner spot across the lake for the official welcome party/rehearsal dinner! Of course I had to snap another pic with the bride to be!

you may recognize this house from James Bonds “Spectre” movie- it was filmed here! They’ve since turned it into a restaurant, but I could resist snapping a pic! (Fun fact: I love James Bond & have seen every movie!)

All the American girls! These ladies were wonderful and we had so much fun together all weekend!

The rehearsal dinner was the most delicious dinner of meat and cheese boards and oh my gosh was it heavenly!! Charcuterie with a view… yum!

Our gang of American gals! Kicking off the night with happy hour.

Loved all the yummy desserts we got to have while we were here.

We ended the night by dancing under the stars to this darling band! You know I can’t resist a good dance session and they couldn’t get me off the dance floor! Austrians love some 70s-80s hits and we had too much fun out there!

I hope that you enjoyed this peek into our trip! Next week I’ll be sharing part 2: Austria day 3-4 and then Amsterdam to follow! I can’t wait to show you our adventures there!! Let me know if there are any specifics you’d like to see/know more about!
