Good morning friends! Today we’re chatting about one of my favorite topics with a fresh perspective- waiting for the Lord. If you’re new to reading the blog, long story (very) short it that I was in a waiting period for the Lords plan and timing to unfold for many years. It was hard, it challenged me, it broke my heart at times, and yet I wouldn’t have changed His plan for the world! Things have unfolded exactly how they were supposed to and I’ve never been happier!
Thanksgiving always puts me in a reflective mood as I think about all I have to be thankful for, so I thought today I could share three important lessons that I learned in the waiting in hopes that it may encourage you to take heart & wait for the Lord- because he is SO good to his children!
ONE: WAITING DOESN’T MEAN NOT MOVING
This is probably the #1 lesson I learned while I waited- that waiting doesn’t equal inaction or staying rooted in one spot. While the Lord may have you in a wait in your life (whether that’s for a relationship, a child, a promotion, a move, etc) He isn’t asking you to sit around and not move. In fact, he’s got a lot of work to do!
While I waited I got two promotions at work, was president and in leadership roles in two non-profits, volunteered, traveled across the country & world, made new friends, celebrated old friends- basically I lived life to the very fullest! And every experience, move, change helped me learn who I was, what the Lord wanted from my life, and brought me one day closer to my answered prayer. Use this time to discover who YOU are and exactly what God has for you, I can promise you it’s so good sister!
TWO: LEARN TO SAY YES MORE THAN YOU SAY NO
Similar to my learning above, the entire trajectory of my waiting period changed when I decided to say “yes” about 99% more often than I said “no”. I said yes to everything- dinner with friends, girls nights, blind dates & set-ups, travel and trips, new opportunities at work. You name it and I said yes! I was challenged, pushed out of my comfort zone, sometimes bitterly disappointed, but ultimately each experience taught me something important, helped me to figure out who I was (and wanted to be), and brought me closer in my walk with the Lord.
And hey, the very last set-up I said yes to turned out to be the love of my life 😉 so you never know when one yes turns into your best yes!
THREE: WHEH YOU CAN’T STAND ANYMORE, PRAY
I’m not going to sugarcoat it, waiting can be very hard and sometimes feel hopeless or endless. Sister I have been there! I have cried, I have been frustrated, I have felt all the emotions! But the third lesson I learned is that when you can’t stand anymore, pray!
What’s amazing is to see that the Lord can handle our tears, our frustration, our anger, our pain, and he can turn it all into something beautiful and ultimately something for our good. So don’t hold back, tell Him how you feel! Let him have it- he can handle it. And then he will show you exactly why his plan is best ☺️
Whatever you have going on in your life, I pray that this encourages you to take heart and know that God has something so very sweet planned for your life! If I can every pray for you, please let me know- it would be a joy! Love y’all!
