Wedding Wednesday: How CoronaVirus is Impacting our Wedding

I know, I know- It’s technically not Wednesday, but we’re running on quarantine time now and there just are no rules! Ha.

Today’s blog post has been one of the most frequently asked questions I’ve gotten since the outbreak of the Coronavirus, and since it’s definitely a sensitive one (so many emotions surround a wedding!) I felt like taking the time to write out my thoughts/our plans was what I needed to do. For a little background, Rob and I got engaged Oct. 26th, 2019 and have been planning our wedding for May 2020. Originally I had really wanted to be an April bride (like I was adamant about it!) but we fell in love with our venue and the only date they had was ours in May- so I shifted my out look to celebrate being a May bride! It’s a long story about how our venue came to be, but even before the outbreak we felt like the Lord had such a hand in our date- and we continue to believe that he has a plan for us in May!

So that brings me to the question filling my DM’s: Are we rescheduling? Here’s both the short and the long answer dear friends: we don’t know! (I’m the human equivalent of the shoulder shrug emoji!) Right now the government has shut down events of more than 10 people through early May- and we are about 2 weeks beyond that date. Rob and I are not panicky people by nature, so we are hoping and praying that things begin to clear over the next few weeks so that things can move forward as planned. However, we also understand the serious nature of what is happening and want to have a plan in place in case we need a back-up date and to post-pone the wedding… so our venue has been beyond accommodating and allowed us to hold a secondary date in August 2020 for our wedding! We are thankful x 10000 that they have been so wonderful to work with us since we are a bit in a “wait and see” limbo right now!

It’s hard to put into words how many emotions surround a wedding and how making these decisions has been a rollercoaster of them! We have poured so much love into planning this day- it was so much more than a “party” for us, it was a celebration with all of our family and friends who have poured prayers into our journey and a chance for us to celebrate the Lord’s faithfulness and answered prayers. BUT, we know that if we have to post-pone a few more weeks, it is OK! He is still faithful and good, and the most important part of this is beginning our marriage and life together as #TeamBlackwood 🙂

For any fellow brides-to-be – you are not alone & we are in this together! Please feel free to reach out either in the comments or through email (gentry.adams@gmail.com) if you’d like to talk or need any encouragement. Praying for each of you!

There are definitely no rules right now, and today may be Friday but it is also just “day”. Sending lots of hugs, and loving how united and positive you both are being about your wedding date. Continue to trust God, and hopefully this too shall pass <3

You have such a great outlook on this! All we can do is take things day by day. I’m glad the venue has been accommodating! You will be a beautiful bride either way!
