Sharing the details of our mini honeymoon in Charleston, SC.
It’s hard to believe for many of us that it’s been 3-4 months since most of us left our homes, towns, and cities to do any sort of traveling! As someone who previously traveled once a month (at least!) for work it’s been a strange time! So when we thought about our honeymoon in the context of COVID, we realized quickly that we were going to have to change our plans! Originally we were planning 2 weeks in Italy, and now we are hoping that can be a one year anniversary trip!
Once we rescheduled our big wedding and moved to a smaller backyard ceremony, we were both hopeful that we would be able to take a scaled back honeymoon as well. It was important to us to relax & be able to celebrate our new marriage! We waited a long time to meet each other, and are so thankful for our story, that we just wanted to be able to (safely!) celebrate that. We both love Charleston, and it’s about 7 hours from our city in Florida, so it was a trip we could book last minute once we saw how cities & states were reopening. We are very thankful that we were able to go and booked this adorable AirBnB about a week before our May 30th wedding! I thought it would be fun to share some details today!
Right before we got to Charleston there were protests for BLM which turned into riots downtown. The city had to put a curfew into place which means we spent even more time in our little AirBnB then we thought! Ha. It was the coziest, sweetest space and I wanted to give y’all a peek inside! It definitely worked best for only 2 people (it was cozy for sure!) but was in a great location about a mile walk to king street. Let’s take a peek!
EDIT: I want to make sure it doesn’t come off that I am being flippant about the protests or do not understand their importance! As they were happening a huge cultural awakening began taking place and we actually had a lot of wonderful conversations about BLM, what it meant, and how we wanted to educate ourselves better and further. For the purposes of this post I just wanted to share some context of our pizza dinner and our time spent at the house! I hope that makes sense 🙂 As y’all know this movement has stirred my heart and brought about a lot of positive changes so I just want to make sure my heart is being expressed correctly. XOXO

I couldn’t resist a few cheesy photos!! So fun to see Rob with his ring on 🙂 how thankful I am for this man, this trip, and the Lord working things out for us!!
So you know that curfew I mentioned? Well it meant restaurants were closed by 6 and we arrived our first night around 6:30. Long story short the only thing open was Papa Johns so we had a romantic pizza our first night!! Definitely something we can look back and laugh about for years to come!
My Dress (new prints!)
Dressed up for dinner on our last night! We were finally able to go out and enjoyed every bite at the Wild Olive! 10/10 recommend!
A few more details of our darling house!
And that’s a wrap on our mini honeymoon! I feel like I have to share again, that while this season of life looks SO different than we originally envisioned (engagement, marriage, honeymoon) we couldn’t be more excited or thankful to see how the Lord still has been at work and opened doors for us to hold a small wedding, take a small honeymoon, and start our lives as husband and wife! All glory to Him! We are beyond joyful!!2
