A Letter to the the COVID Brides…

One of my goals before our little lady get here is to share the details of our November “sequel” wedding day. It was such a beautiful day and the culmination of our journey to wed in the middle of COVID (although nothing will ever top our May 30th wedding!! :)) But, before I dive into  all the wedding details, I’ve had it on my heart to share some encouragement with my fellow Covid brides. It’s such a unique time to try and plan & execute a wedding, and Lord knows it looks different that we may have dreamed as little girls, but nothing can stop love! So if you are a bride-to-be (or perhaps a married Coved bride) then this letter is for you friends.

Dear Covid Bride,

You have probably been dreaming of this moment for a lifetime- getting to marry the love of your life, surrounded by family & friends. And whether you’ve been engaged for 10 days or 10 months, Covid has certainly already showed you that your plans are going to look different. Maybe it’s as simple as your guests needing to wear masks; or maybe you have to cut your guest list, change venues, postpone your date (for the second, maybe third time!) or reinvision your wedding altogether. No matter whether the change is big or small- it hurts a little. Because it’s a dream you’ve had and now its changing… and that’s hard.

But today I want to encourage you! I want to tell you, that it’s ok to be sad when your vision changes. It’s ok to mourn “what was” and struggle with a new normal. It’s to have emotional breakdowns and tears. But beautiful bride, chin up because the wedding you are going to have will be a whole different kind of wonderful!

Covid has taught us to slow down and appreciate the little things, the simple moments. And when it comes to our wedding days, Covid is allowing us to refocus on what truly matters most. And that is the moment of becoming man & wife, starting your lives together, and the joy and commitment that comes with it! When I postponed my original “big” wedding, I was devastated to lose that vision/dream. But then I started to realize, that this was going to allow me a new dream. A smaller more intimate day, focused on me & my new husband, and the vows we would soon be making. After all, that is the root of marriage and the foundation that the Lord had planned for our union. And it was when I embraced our change in plans- and the twists and turns in our story, that I was filled with more joy and happiness than can be explained!

If you are worried about how you will feel on your wedding day, let me assure you that you will never feel more JOY than you will waking up that morning and knowing that you will be a married woman by then end of the day. And that every day after that will be spent with the love of your life. Walking down the aisle will forever be one of the most special walks you will make. Saying “I do” will fill you with a happiness that can’t be explained. Your first dance will leave a permanent smile on your face. And you will treasure every moment of the day. Covid may change your plans, but it cannot stop LOVE!

Love,

A fellow Covid bride

Thanks for stopping by y’all! || Gentry
