Reclaiming My Style

Leopard Embroidered Dress (wearing a M to have room to grow!) // Brown Boots // Yellow Headband // Gold Clutch

Whew, how is everyone feeling today? Election days are BIG ones and I know we all have a lot of emotions, so I hope you are all doing well and giving yourself any grace you might need. Something that always helps me is a reminder that God has gone before us and is with us every step of the way. He is ultimately in control and who my hope and faith is in!

But today I wanted to chat a little about something that has affected me a lot this pregnancy- and that has been feeling like I’ve lost my sense of style. Let me start by saying that pregnancy is something I feel grateful for every day! I love our little Eliza more than is possible to express and am so thankful for a healthy pregnancy so far! But I wouldn’t be totally honest if I didn’t share some of the struggles or challenges that I’ve had to overcome- some more mental than physical!

See, I’ve lived my whole life with the mentality that when my clothes don’t fit, or numbers are going up on a scale it means I need to review my diet and workout more. A simple fix, right? Well, when your pregnant it’s like that entire mentality has to change overnight because all of a sudden it’s encouraged to gain weight and it’s ok to not fit in your pants 😂 And maybe this sounds silly, but mentally it’s been a really hard roadblock for me in the first half of my pregnancy. And along with an ever changing body, I felt like I couldn’t figure out how to dress it! And for a girl who loves getting dressed, that was tough too.

So a few weeks ago I decided it was time to embrace my pregnancy body, find a few things I loved, and reclaim my style! Maternity fashions weren’t really doing it for me, so I discovered a few darling boutiques, sized up, and got some pieces in that made me feel like “me” for the first time in 20 weeks! And I don’t want to make light of some of those mental blocks I’ve had to overcome, a few cute dresses didn’t change everything, and some days I still struggle with all the ways my body is changing, but I want to encourage my fellow mamas to do what you need to do to help yourself feel fabulous! Our bodies are doing pretty amazing, miraculous things, and we can’t forget how wonderful that is!

I would love to know if you struggled with any of these feelings during your pregnancy? We’ve all got to stick together and encourage each other! Love y’all!!

What a cute dress on you! I had my frustrated moments with my pregnancies – at some point in the second trimester less things fitted and I went out and bought a bunch of new pieces, haha! But most of my wardrobe was things like elastic waist skirts or jersey maxi dresses that all accommodated the bump even up to the very end, so I was pretty lucky! 🙂 I was able to wear a lot of my wardrobe right through and focused on a capsule for that third trimester where nothing usually fits – made me feel a lot better! You’ll figure out what works for you 🙂

Thanks for the link up 🙂

Hope that you are having a good day 🙂

I remember how hard it was to embrace my pregnancy body. Back then they didn’t really have cute maternity clothes and I always felt so frumpy. I’m glad you found your pregnancy style – this dress is totally you and darling on you!

I loved being pregnant….I think it was the only time in my life when I felt like it was acceptable to be bigger and I totally embraced it and never worried about the weight…until after. Then that was a whole other headcase. haha You look wonderful..I’m glad your reclaiming your style and focusing on enjoying this new shape.

First of all, you look fantastic and I adore this look on you! I love that you shared this, because I remember feeling that way too when I was first pregnant, and I think there are so many other people who go through this. I love that you’re learning to embrace your changing body, and I know so many others will be encouraged to do the same.
