6 Months With Eliza!

Oh me, oh my, where in the WORLD does 6 months go, and how come time is such a thief?! Our precious girl turned 6 months old on September 4th, and I can truly say that while she has turned our world upside down (in the best ways!) I have never felt more love and joy than in being her mama! Motherhood, while so dang hard at moments, has been filled with more joy than I ever expected. Rob and I look at each other all the time and say, how is this tiny little person so much fun?! So fills our house with smiles and giggles on end!

In the best few weeks Eliza’s personality has really started to come out! She is sassy, smart as a whip, focused, determined, and a little goofball! She lets you know what she wants (and doesn’t) and gets so frustrated if she can’t do/get something she wants. She’s putting all her energy into figuring out how to crawl, and it’s fascinating getting a front row seat into watching her brain work. Some mornings I can literally see the wheels turning as she tries to connect what she wants and how to get her body to do it. And y’all, home girl is a hoot! When she makes you laugh, then she does it over and over- she’s hilarious! She’s started this scrunchie nose laugh that is the cutest thing I’ve ever seen!

At 6 months Eliza is:

– Eating “solids” (purées) 2x a day! She loves food! So far her favorites are bananas, apples, & mangoes!

– Sleeping 10-11 hours/night (thank you Taking Cara Babies) and taking 3 naps a day

– Wearing size 3-6mo clothing (although she is about to size out!)

– She weighs 18lb 8oz (75-90% percentile) and is 26.5in long

– Has started to say single syllables – not that she knows what they mean- like “ma ma”

– No teeth yet! Although all the teething signs are there!

While I knew I would love being a mom, I had absolutely no idea just how much it would fulfill me, give me a purpose, and bring out both the best things in me and the things that God needs to refine. I have learned how much I love a schedule and plan, and sometimes I struggle with the ever changing nature of babies and the unpredictability! But with a lot of grace (especially from my wonderful husband!) I a, learning how to adapt! 🙂 Eliza has helped me to slow down, step back from the hustle, and focus on the things that matter most- family, friends, and faith. We can’t believe we get to cheer her on in life for the next 100 years!

Eliza, thank you for the precious gift of being your mom! I thank the Lord every night that he thought I was worthy of you. I love you more than you will ever know 💕 Happy 6 months baby girl!
