Happy Hour || 1.8.21

Hello friends! Well it has certainly been a WEEK hasn’t it? It started out so lighthearted and fun (hi, Lilly sale!) and ended up with some hard, crazy things happening at the US Capitol. I’m not one to make a ton of public political statements, but I am thinking, praying, and doing my best to continue learning each and every day.

It feels like we need to end the week on a light note- so I’m bringing back my “Happy Hour” series and I’m really excited to deliver these on (hopefully) a biweekly basis! My heart with these posts are that they are like a virtual girls night or gab-fest over cocktails! We chat about favorite things, what were reading, what we’re loving, and what we’re up to! Let’s get to it 🙂

RECENT PURCHASES & FINDS:

Southern Smocked Clothing! I have such a soft spot for traditional, southern smocked clothing, but the practical side of my struggles to justify the price tag on pieces that Eliza is going to wear once, maybe twice! So I’ve discovered the cutest brand, Lil Cactus, which is actually sold on Amazon!! I love these adorable, colorful pieces and cannot wait to see her in them so soon!

Daily Bible– If you read my post last week sharing my “Word of the Year” then you might have seen that I am also committing to reading through the Bible in a year. I did this in 2018 and it was one of the most transformative years of my life- and I love my daily readings! It truly is one of my favorite things that I’ve done so I am excited to do it again in 2021- a year that will certainly be filled with a lot of transformative things! In case you’ve ever been interested in reading the Bible in a year, I wanted to share the one I use. each day you get an Old Testament, New Testament, Psalm, & Proverb. It’s about 15 minutes a day and I can’t encourage you enough to try it if it’s something that’s been on your heart!

Karlie Wrap Romper– Didn’t get enough Lilly this week?? 🙂 Hehe- me either! I LOVE the “Karlie” Wrap Romper style and this multi-patch is so stinking cute!! It reminds me of old school Lilly which I love! These rompers are perfect for date night (when we can do more of those, right?!)

LINKS TO LOVE:

As a first-time mama I found Liz’s articles on postpartum essentials for moms and her must-have products for newborns absolute lifesavers! While I’ve gotten the hang of pregnancy, postpartum is totally unknown and she really helped me feel 100x better!

Need some motivation to kick start your heath goals for the year? I’ve been following Bess for quite awhile and if I wasn’t pregnant I would be ALL OVER her January challenge! Her workouts are 30 minutes, minimal equipment needed (dumbbells are the most important!) and she even has her own app to keep you on track!

WEEKEND PLANS:

This weekend our plans are pretty minimal, which I’m excited about! We are in the process of clearing out the nursery, organizing the house, etc! I even think a bit of a closet clean out will be in order (I can hear Rob doing a happy dance about that one).

But next weekend is a big weekend for us! We have our baby shower, which I absolutely cannot wait for, and are taking our maternity photos with Jessie Roffer. My sweet friends have been working so hard to plan the absolute sweetest shower for Baby Eliza and I am so excited to celebrate our little girl so soon!! And then to be able to capture this pregnancy with Jessie- I am just over the moon! Jessie has such a special heart for mamas and babies and I can’t wait to see her work her magic!!

RECENTLY READ:

American Dirt– 4.5/5.0

This book is an incredibly powerful story that will stick with you long after you finish the last page. It is about a mother and son who experience an incredible loss at the hands of a drug cartel and decide to come to America. This chronicles their journey from Mexico to crossing the border into the US- and all the hardships they have to endure along the way. Regardless of how you feel about immigration issues, this is an amazing story that opened my eyes to so many different points of view I didn’t know. Truly incredible!

The Tattooist of Auschwitz– 4.0/5.0

After a favorite things party over the holidays, one of my gfs brought this book and EVERYONE was raving about it so I had to get it for myself. It is an incredible story of love in the most dire of circumstances. I was trying to explain this to my hairdresser but for being such a serious book (it’s set in a concentration camp) it wasn’t as “heavy” as I thought it was going to be- and I mean that in a good way?! I also loved that it is based on a true story – which makes it all the more incredible to read. You’ll love this one!

Thanks for stopping by y’all!
