Pretty much since the day I was born, I’ve been a morning person. I LOVE mornings! The still quiet air before the world wakes up, a steamy cup of coffee, the only time of day that feels calm… I can’t get enough! Over the years I’ve developed quite a morning routine, and a though I’ve had to scale it back since entering #momlife, I still manage to spend some “me” time in the morning to get myself mentally prepped and hyped for the day. Since I love peeking into other peoples routines/habits I thought it would be fun today to share a look into five essential elements to my morning routine!

5:15am- Bright and early wake up! In order to have a successful morning I have to get up before Eliza to get some quiet time in. So far this is the best time to start the day to fit in everything I need to get done. I spend a few minutes fiddling on my phone before I actually get up!

5:25-6:00am: Hair + Makeup. I find our days run smoother when mom’s is hair + makeup ready for the day before everyone else. I cannot believe that it used to take me almost TWO hours to do my hair + makeup… now I’ve got it down to a 30 minute habit! (It helps that I shower now at night to eliminate that plus my wet hair from the morning!)

6:00-6:45- Mama’s Morning time. This is the “ahhh” time of the day when I focus, relax, and pep myself up for the day ahead! It starts with a big, hot, steaming cup of coffee (#1 element of a good morning), and then I read my favorite blogs (leaving comments if I can!), try to read a few pages of my current book, check in on my blog post published that morning (sharing links on Twitter + Pinterest) and even catching up on editing pictures or prepping future blog posts. Of course, I also try to take a few minutes to pray, have quiet time, and focus on what the day holds.

Eliza’s been waking up between about 6:45-7:00am, so on a REALLY good morning I can get almost and hour to myself… a real dream!! Rob gets up with me and workout + gets ready while I have my “mama morning”. It’s become a great rhythm for us and let’s us both fill out cups with what we need to set up our day for success!

In summary, my 5 essential morning elements are:

  • Early morning wake-up
  • Getting ready with hair + makeup
  • COFFEE (two cups if you’re lucky!)
  • Prayer/quiet time
  • Reading (blogs/books- whatever makes you happy!)

Does your morning look like mine?

I love this!! It reminds me more of my mornings before I started doing morning radio…. now after doing my makeup and eating a quick breakfast there’s not much time until I get out the door, haha!! 🙂

I always loved having my quiet time in the morning before my daughter woke up. I keep a similar routine now too!

I think I need to go back to be more prepared for easier mornings or else it feels like I am rushing too much! Only saving grace is that I dont have to go into work!

  4. I try to get up before my kids, too but it’s typically to try and squeeze in as much of a work out as possible. But then my kids are fairly independent getting ready as long as I monitor them and keep them focused! Haha! Love your beautiful dress and that fun clutch! The bow on it is the perfect icing on the cake!
