Better late than never, right? We might be more than half way though April, but with all the great books I read in March I couldn’t pass up the chance to share my March 2024 Book Reviews with y’all! I’m so excited because it was a month of so many great reads- and I’m now 1/3 of the way through my reading goal for the year (65 books!!)

The True Love Experiment by Christina Lauren

This was my first Christina Lauren book, but will not be my last- it was so good!

Here’s what I loved and I think you will too:

The characters are well-developed, and they are so lovable!
The plot line is fun, a little campy, but keeps you guessing and wondering how it will end.
The chemistry between the main characters is OFF THE CHARTS!
You will fall in love which this whole crew and not want to stop reading about them.
I loved rooting for a happy ending!
It’s laugh-out-loud (like belly laugh) funny!

You will absolutely love this one!

Note: It is a sequel, but I didn’t read the first book (yet) and felt that I could follow along just fine!

The Party Crasher by Sophie Kinsella

The Shopaholic series was my favorite growing up, so anytime Sophie Kinsella releases a new book I’m there. However, nothing has quite lived up to the same hype for me.

This book was cute, but is dragged on in parts and I didnt fall in love with the cast like I did Becky Bloomwood. I did like the lessons learned at the end, so that is why I ended up giving it 4 stars vs. 3.

However, several friends of mine have read and loved… so I might be in the minority!

The Idea of You by Robinne Lee

This book comes out as a movie with Anne Hathaway as the lead in May, and when I saw it was available on KU it was a no brainer to read it! I’d heard about it for years so I was excited to finally see what the hype was all about.

Pros: it’s a captivating story. As I was reading I knew there was really only two options for how it could end but I truly had no idea how the author was going to wrap it up.

It also really is every girls teenage fantasy- that you’re at a concert and your celebrity crush notices YOU in the crowd! (My crush was JC from NSYNC or Brian from the Backstreet Boys- LOL)

Cons: The middle of the book dragged and felt like the same scenario over and over again. MANY scenes could have been cut with the same result.

I did NOT like the ending- not because of the actual ending, but it was incredibly abrupt and the book desperately needed an epilogue or “6 months later” chapter to fully wrap it up.

All in all, I think this book is pretty captivating and would lead to a LIVELY book club discussion! 😉

The Teacher by Freida McFadden

So here’s my beef with this book… it was actually a very twisty, unexpected, fast pace read that kept me guessing until the end. However I HATED the central part of the plot (as well as the final twist) – can’t say why or I’ll spoil the book- but as a mom of a daughter it just was so wrong to me that it’s hard to give the book anything more than 3 stars.
I’ve seen a lot of 4-5 star reviews for it, so I think if the subject doesn’t bother you or you can look past it you’ll enjoy the pace and twists! For me, it’s a no dawg.

Expiration Dates by Rebecca Serle

I love, love, love Rebecca Serle books (In Five Years and One Italian Summer were incredible!) so when her newest book was released I ordered it immediately!

I did feel like the story started off a little slow, but then there’s a twist or two about halfway through that completely sucked me in and I raced to the end! I absolutely loved Daphnes journey of self discovery along the way and the lesson she ultimately learned!

Side note: the Authors note is a must- Rebecca herself has finally fallen in love and that’s why this book is her first focusing on romantic love. I feel like you can feel that newness of discovery as you read and I really loved that element!
