My Word of the Year + Goals for 2022

My Rainbow Dress

We might be halfway into January, but that doesn’t mean I haven’t been dreaming about what this year might hold! As I mentioned Monday, we are still recovering from sickness in our house, which kind of delayed the start of 2022 for us, but now I am ready to put key to keyboard and share my hopes and dreams with y’all for this year! Last year I didn’t make any goals, with motherhood on the horizon I basically wanted to survive the year, and I can confirm that I did! 🙂 Some days I even would say I thrived! But this year I want to build out a few more concrete goals- especially for this space- so let’s get to dreaming and doing!

My 2022 Word of the Year // JOY

“Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.” (James 1:2-4)

The Lord put the word JOY on my heart in December, and I just couldn’t shake it- I knew it had to be my word for 2022! One of the things motherhood taught me over the past year was that some moments will be your highest high, and others will be your lowest low. And because JOY (unlike happiness) isn’t based on circumstances, but on the Lord, I want to seek joy in all circumstances and moments. Honestly some of my favorite memories from motherhood in 2021 were when Rob and I were cracking up in not-so-fun situations (hello being pooped on!) but found the JOY in those moments and ended up laughing together. I want more of that in 2022! Life isn’t perfect, but honestly this time in my life is what I’ve been praying for over the last 33 years, and so I want to find the joy in each and every moment this year has to offer!

My Goals for 2022:

PERSONAL:

1) Take Eliza on a trip!

I am the first to admit that I love Eliza’s routine, and thinking about taking her out of it, even for a fun vacation does scare me quite a bit! BUT, I don’t want to let that fear stand in my way of making memories with my sweet little family. Rob and I would love to schedule a little family getaway this year – we have some ideas that I can’t wait to make happen.

2) Take a couple’s trip (no kids!)

Just as important as making memories as a family, Rob and I also want to take some time for “us” and take a trip together. He’s in a wedding in Atlanta this summer, so we are thinking that’s a perfect time for us to take some time away. Any tips on leaving your baby for the first time??

3) Save for our family’s financial goals.

Rob and I have some big goals for our family and things we are saving for, so we want to continue to work towards those together this year. As someone who used to be a habitual spender- this is a big deal for me to focus on this as a goal! 🙂

BLOGGING/SOCIAL:

4) Show my face on IG stories 3x per week.

Somehow between motherhood, busy mornings with a baby, a full time job, and then “mom mode” at night, I’ve completely fallen out of the habit of sharing life with y’all over on IG stories. I really want to get back to that this year and just share more of our life, our day to day, and all the fun stuff that happens in between! While I don’t know if I can commit to showing my face every day, I think I can commit to 3x per week, so that’s where I’m starting my goal at!

5) Post 1 reel a month.

I’m like a grandma when it come to technology- a total late adopter! Reels are a lot of work for me, but I actually enjoy the creativity of making the videos and putting them together. I think working towards 1 reel a month is an achievable goal for me!

What goals and hopes do you have for the new year? I’m looking forward to making 2022 a wonderful and fruitful year!
