Our Favorite Swaddles, Sleep Suits & Sleep Sacks

Swaddle Me Swaddles (we used these up to almost 4 months since Eliza wasn’t showing signs of rolling)

Ahhhh baby sleep! Pretty much the first thing you hear when you get pregnant is “sleep now because you will never sleep again!” And while I hope I can help ease your mind around actually getting sleep (you will, I promise!) it will basically consume your days thinking about it! I mean, seven months in and I’m still calculating if she’s sleeping enough, too much, wake windows… everything she needs to be a well rested little girl!

We did learn early on that having the right sleep tools made a huge difference for our little Eliza! And our right tools revolve around swaddles, sleep sacks, and everything in between. I remember being pregnant and trying to sort through ALL the products on the market, so I thought I’d share what worked best for us, what we loved, and where we are now 🙂

First, Eliza started in a traditional swaddle (pictured above). My #1 tip as a new mom is don’t even mess with those blanket style swaddles, babies are ninjas and Eliza broke out of every one! We loved the Swaddle Me swaddles and they worked great! They are Velcro and kept her in night and tight. She really loves how cozy they were and it helps newborns feel like they are in the womb again. Something you’ll learn along the way is that babies can only be swaddles with arms down until they show signs of rolling. Once they can roll they have to transition to something else.

Merlin’s Magic Sleep Suit

Next, we moved Eliza to the Merlin Magic Sleep Suit once she could roll. This suit still muffles their Moro reflexes, but even if they are rolling during tummy time the suit keeps them from rolling in the crib. We used this from about 4-6 months and it was a dream for us! She absolutely loved it! But, once they can roll in the suit (which varies for every baby) you have to transition out. Which takes me to present day…

Love to Dream Sleep Sack // Kyte Baby asleep Sack // Nested Bean Zen Sleep Sack

For the past 3 weeks or so, since transitioning out of the Merlin sleep suit, I’ve been testing our all of the sleep sacks you recommended with Eliza! After trying the Nested Bean, the Kyte, and the Dreamland we can say that Eliza loves the dreamland weighted sleep sack! As a mom I was nervous taking it out of the package because it is rather heavy! I was so worried she would get stuck one way, but she can actually roll all over her crib in it, but really finds a lot of comfort in the weight and it helps to calm her. I think as she gets a little older we may transition to the Nested Bean and then the Kyte, but for now we are so happy with the Dreamland!

If you have any questions about all things SLEEP please let me know! And happy sleeping 🙂

Making sure that the baby is sleeping safely and soundly is everything. With so much sleepwear on the market to choose from, it can be tricky to decide what’s right for the baby. Thanks for these recs!
