Sunday Scripture + Thoughts

It’s hard to describe, or put into words, just how much the Lord has been doing in my life and all the ways he is shaping my heart and preparing me for what’s next. However, I think this verse encapsulates all that work so completely; God has been showing me that above all else, he will fulfill his promises. It may not look like how I thought it would, but it’s going to be better than I could ever imagine!

Happy Sunday sweet friends! Sorry that I haven’t been consistent with the Sunday Scripture series, I’ve been a little out of touch in my own prayer life, and I haven’t wanted to paint a false front on the blog. Thank goodness that the Lord is faithful, even when I am not!

My bible study recently went through the book of Romans, and even though I missed a little in the middle, I was able to finish strong – and am so thankful I was able to do so!  The verse today is one of my favorites from Romans 12, and definitely showed up right when I needed it most. It was a gentle nudge from the Lord to not lose hope, and be faithful- even when it is hard and answers seem uncertain. I know that I want to be a woman who is faithful in prayer (and I’ve been doing so much praying lately!) so I am taking these sweet words to heart.

Hope you have a wonderful Sunday! I’m off to church, then a pedicure that’s long overdue and deep cleaning my house. It’s going to be great day! Hope y’all enjoy yours!

Sunday Scripture + Thoughts

This verse has been so pressed into my heart lately that I know the Lord has been wanting me to take note! I’m a very happy and optimistic person, but my prayer life often involves me asking for things that I don’t yet have (or think I want). But it’s been amazing to see all the different ways the Lord brought this verse to my attention, and it’s really convicted me to be more thankful for everything in the here and now.

To be very honest with y”all, instead of my prayer being “Lord, please bring my husband” it has changed to “Lord, thank you for this time of singleness because it has allowed me to focus on growing my relationship with you!” And you know what? It’s totally changed my perspective on how I see my life, and current stage of life! When I stopped asking for what I didn’t have and started focusing on all that I could give thanks for, the joy I felt for my life grew by leaps and bounds! (Not to say I wan’t joyful before, but it’s like that joy has been magnified and multiplied!) And it’s transformed my prayer life from what felt like a “test of patience” to a time when I truly thank the Lord for his blessings and goodness and ask him what he has to show me next. I have a sense of contentment and peace that I have never felt before, because I am truly & fully grateful for all that He has entrusted me with.

Does that me I don’t want more? Absolutely not! I still pray for my husband and future children daily, but give thanks in the midst for where I am now because it is growing me to be a better wife and mother in the future.

I’d love to hear what the Lord has put on your hearts lately, and if there is anything I can be praying for you can always drop me a note! XO

I think sometimes we forget our worth. When you get caught up in the day to day hustle, the stress and the mess, it can be hard to see yourself for the diamond that you are. But then I read the verse above, and I am humbled and astounded that the Lord looks at me and thinks that I am worth far more than rubies. Even in my sinful nature, even in my struggle and the things that bring me shame, he sees precious value in me. My imperfection doesn’t keep him from seeing my true worth. And that is something to hold on to in the hardest of times, and in the best of times, and in all times. You are so worth it all.

Have a wonderful Sunday friends!

I’m still working my way through Lies Women Believe: And the Truth that Sets Them Free, and we just finished a phenomenal chapter on “Lies Women Believe: About Sin” so this verse is near and dear to my heart right now. This chapter was all about not only understanding what sin is (and what is  “qualified” as a sin) but also on understanding the depth of God’s grace for us. That he wouldn’t leave us in a barren and lonely place to suffer in sin alone, but instead send Jesus to take on our sins and wipe our slate clean. Y’all I’m still working on wrapping my head around just how deeply we are loved. I hope on this Sunday you let that truth really sink into your heart and you recognize how dearly loved you are by God. Praying for you sisters! XO

There has been some pretty exciting things happening around these parts- I can’t wait to share them with y’all! But what has been amazing hasn’t necessarily been what has happened, but it’s been seeing the Lord at work (because he has been so evident). Wherever you are, and whatever you are praying for, don’t lose hope and don’t give up- He is good and his love endures forever!

There’s a lot of things going on in my life right now that I don’t have tons of control over, and quite frankly I’m not sure where it’s all going. But I do know one thing, when these times of uncertainty come, that’s when I dig in deep in my prayer life. There’s the strongest sense of peace that comes with laying your burdens and fears at the feet of the Lord. Friends, He knows everything we are scared of, and he already knows everything we need. And so often, I think I have it figured out, and then God shows me that he knew better all along. So I encourage you to dig deep, pray hard, and trust in the Lord’s goodness. It’s going to be better than you or I could have ever hoped!

I absolutely cannot thank you all enough for your kind words and well wishes while I took a brief personal break! It seriously meant the world to me that y’all took time to send some prayers and good thoughts my way. This little space of the net means so much to me and y’all keep it kind, happy, and so special!

The verse above had been such a huge encouragement to me as I look forward to the “something new” while moving on from the abrupt end to a relationship. The thing about faith, and trusting the Lord, is that it doesn’t make heartbreak or pain go away, but it gives us a glimmer of hope where it may not be otherwise. Let’s be honest, life is hard and there are times of pain and sorrow, but God always shows us good and brings us unexpected joys. And when we eventually get to that “something new” we realize why we had to go through those hardships and trials.

So I encourage you, wherever you are in life & whatever you are going though, to not lose faith and not lose hope. God’s got this and he is going to bring you (and me!) joy that knows no bounds!

Sending lots of love & hope your way this Sunday. Please know that if you ever need someone to pray for you- you’re always welcome to send me an email at gentry.adams@gmail.com. I’d love a chance to send some happiness your way!

Thank you so much for reading- I wish I could give each and every one of you a big hug! XO
