Toddler Books We Love (Eliza’s Favorites!)

I can wholeheartedly say that one of the best things we have done as parents is instill a love of reading in Eliza from the very first day we brought her home from the hospital. Both Rob and I adore reading, so it was really fun to read baby Eliza stories and books, and as she’s gotten older (she’s currently 22 months) she continues to love books! She’s constantly pulling them off her shelf and “reading them” to herself or asking us to read them to her. I love seeing her love for books blossom!

In the past 22 months I’ve learned a lot about the books that grab and keep Eliza’s attention as well as the books Mom & Dad enjoy reading 🙂 So if you’re a parent-to-be or are looking to grow a love of reading in your little one, please enjoy today’s post!

Our Favorite Toddler Books:

Elmo’s Little Library– made up of four little books, our favorite is “Elmo Says,” We always giggle when mama walks like a cat and flies like a plane! 🙂

Big Box of Little Pookie // I Love You, Little Pookie – we sure do adore little Pookie in our house! He’s a silly piglet and Eliza always requests one of his sweet books to read at night. Mom and dad have a lot of fun with these too!

Snuggle Puppy // Pajama Time – can you tell we love Sandra Boynton?? She’s the best at fun illustrations and catchy rhymes! Both of these books are also bedtime favorites of ours… but warning that you will end up humming these catchy rhymes all night!

God Bless You and Goodnight // The Day God Made You // On the Night You Were Born

These are three of my slightly more sentimental books, but Eliza still loves their sweet and simple rhymes and the beautiful pictures. She especially loves the doggies in “The Day God Made You!” (I have to confess I cried the first few times I read it!)

Toddler Bookshelf & Sitting Area:

This is one of my favorite spots in Eliza’s room- her bookshelf and sitting area that makes it super special for her to read her toddler books! This book shelf hold a pretty nice amount of books (although we have an overflow basket in her room as well as two more book baskets in the playroom) and the built in bench seat is a fun place for her to crawl up and feel like a “big girl” reading by herself! We loved that this area can grow with her- and is a special spot just for her.

How Do Dinosaurs Say Good Night?

We have so many more books we love (especially for sentimental reasons!) but these are the one I find Eliza reaching for the most asking me to “read mama” 🙂 It’s some of the sweetest moments of my day and I hope that one of these books brings you and your little love just as much fun and sweet moments!
