WOW friends- it is officially 2021! As the clock struck midnight we closed the door on one of the strangest, most challenging, re-prioritizing years in all of our lives. While I certainly believe (and lived) a lot of joy last year, I always love the first day of a brand new year! A new year holds so much wonder and excitement- what’s going to happen in the next 365 days?! This year we will be welcoming a Eliza Ann into our family- perhaps one of the biggest changes we ever experienced- and I cannot wait for us to become parents to this precious little one!! March cannot get here soon enough 🙂
WORD OF THE YEAR: ROOTED
Anyway… A few years ago I started choosing a “word of the year” to center and ground my goals and intentions for the year. I find I have a hard time remembering my goals/resolutions each year- but I never forget my word of the year! And somehow each year, that word has been exactly what I needed in both good and hard times. So this year I’m really excited to share that my word of the year is “Rooted.” Here’s what that means to me:
- There is no doubt this year is going to be filled with even more change than the last (hello parenthood!) and I want my decisions to be guided by the faith that I am rooted in. Just as God is at the center of our marriage, I want Him to be central to our parenting too.
- I want to continue to root my faith this year by reading through the Bible in 365 days. I read the Bible cover to cover a few years ago and it was truly life-changing. I think this year, having that daily exercise to anchor and root me will be just as pivotal. Our faith is like a flower that needs watering daily to nurture our relationship with Him – and this daily goal will be just what I need to do that!
- Continue to build the roots of our marriage so they are strong and deep! Life has handed us so many changes in the past year that sometimes we have to remind ourselves that we’ve only been married 7 months (crazy!!!)- we are still newlyweds! Especially as we enter parenthood, I want to make sure that I am making time to pour into our relationship and marriage so that it continues to flourish and grow each and every day.
My previous “words of the year” :
Do you do a word of the year? I would love to hear yours!! And what are you most looking forward to this year? No matter what comes our way, let’s make it the best one yet!
Thanks for stopping by y’all! || Gentry
